Celery Juice: Simple Guidance and Common Questions Answered

Drinking celery juice has become and still is trending as another true powerhouse to heal one’s body. It has anti-oxidative properties which can prevent many diseases such as cardiovascular disease, gout, as well as reduce blood sugar levels and lower blood pressure.

There is a lot of questions surrounding how celery juice should be drunken, how much of it, and what it does to your body?

I have taken the celery juice challenge myself by drinking it for a month. I’ll let you know my experience after going through these common questions surrounding celery juice.

What’s the difference between drinking juiced celery rather than eating it?

Research shows that by drinking juiced celery, it loses a lot of its fiber content. But on the other hand, you are consuming more celery when you juice rather than when you eat it. As long as you get fiber in your diet from other sources, you should be fine.

When you juice celery, the measurements are different.

If you use one bunch of celery, it will yield about 16 ounces of juice. It’s easier to get in some of your daily intake of vegetables when you juice them.

What happens to your body when you drink celery juice regularly?

When you drink celery juice regularly, you may experience less bloat, weight loss, clear skin, and can prevent chronic diseases.

Celery itself is filled with vitamin A, K, C, potassium, magnesium, flavonoids, and phytonutrients to name a few.

Celery juice is filled with antioxidants, has amazing gut enhancing benefits and is an anti-inflammatory. You will also stay hydrated when drinking this green powerhouse because of its high percentage of water.

Incorporating celery juice into your regimen or routine, you can reap some significant gains.

Should you drink celery juice on an empty stomach or not?

It is said to drink celery juice on an empty stomach to assist with your digestion becoming stronger and stable. The celery juice is better absorbed, and you will see the benefits faster.

Because you drink celery juice on an empty stomach, the food you eat throughout the day is better utilized. You will still need to eat breakfast to get you through the morning, so I wouldn’t substitute it as a meal replacement.

Can it be juiced with something else to take away the bitterness?

Drinking celery juice by itself is best to reap its detoxifying properties. Although adding lemon or a piece of fruit makes it more palatable, it is recommended not to.

Celery juice is alkaline which regulates your body’s PH levels. It boosts and balances your body’s immune system and flushes away toxins.

Are there any side effects?

With too much of anything, there can be side effects. Research says that celery can cause sensitivity to the sun, allergic reactions, and issues for people who have very low blood pressure or kidney problems.

Of course, consult your doctor first if you have any serious medical issues before starting any new regimen.

Should I try it, and if so where do I start?

I would suggest trying it to see if you notice any differences in your body after a couple of weeks. My recommendation is to start with six to eight ounces rather than the suggested sixteen ounces.

I say this because I think it will help you get adapted to the taste of pure celery juice. I tried going straight for the 16 ounces and ended up lowering it to eight for that very reason.

My Experience

I started out drinking sixteen ounces because I thought ohhhh its nothing I can do that once a day, think again. After the third day of drinking sixteen ounces, I made myself sick of it.

It could have been because I was attempting to down it so fast to get it out the way that I made myself sick. Don’t do that by the way, and I shouldn’t have. That’s just me rushing out in the mornings. I know a lot of us are guilty of that.

The fourth day and days after I was more than fine drinking six to eight ounces, and I mean no more than eight.

Now let’s go back a little bit. The first day after drinking the sixteen ounces, I will use the word sparkle (poop) here, I sparkled about ten to fifteen minutes later after drinking. My stomach didn’t hurt, it just felt like I had to go, and it was only that one time during the day.

The second day it wasn’t right after I drank the celery juice that I had to go. I went to the bathroom that day as usual but my sparkle was smoother than average. The same happened for the rest of the week.

Fast forward to the second week, I was way less bloated, and my acne looked much better than it did the week prior. I also noticed my energy levels were better, being that I work two jobs.

Overall my experience was good, and I continue to drink celery juice every two to three days now, oppose to once daily.

Recap

Celery juice can be juiced or eaten, but you will consume more if you decide to juice it. Your body will take in many benefits if you incorporate it into your diets, such as less bloat, better digestion, and improved acne.

If you drink celery juice on an empty stomach, it is better absorbed by your body. Drinking celery juice alone is better so it can detoxify and leave your body ph levels balanced.

If you have any significant health conditions be sure to consult your doctor first before adding it to your diet.
