6 Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

When I first heard all the rage of people talking about ACV, it instantly gave me a bitter taste in my mouth without even having to drink it yet.

What made me more interested in ACV was that I heard all the different health benefits anyone could take advantage of with drinking 1-2 tablespoons a day.

I forgot to mention, make sure to purchase the ACV that contains the “Mother.” “Mother” is where the proteins and the good bacteria comes.

Once I did some research, I found that ACV can be used in many different ways and not just to drink.

Here are seven ways to reap the benefits of ACV.

1. Reduces Acid Reflux

Apple Cider Vinegar is great as a tonic to help if you have stomach issues. Low acid levels in your stomach create acid reflux.

Because ACV is acidic, it increases the level of acid in your stomach. It aids by putting more acid into your digestive tract.

Adding extra ingredients such as ginger and lemon juice can break up that bitter taste you get after drinking.

Because ACV is acidic, be sure to dilute with water and use a straw to drink, so you do not damage your teeth.

Here is my recipe I make and drink every morning.

[lt_recipe name=”Acid Reflux Drink” servings=”1″ total_time=”3M” difficulty=”Easy” summary=”Reduce your Acid Reflux and receive many other health benefits such as reduced bloating, antioxidants, and less inflammation.” print=”yes” image=”https://www.learnlovehealth.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/img_2170-1024×711.jpg” ingredients=”1-2 tbsp ACV;1 tsp ginger;1 tsp turmeric;Few drops of lemon juice;6-8oz of warm water” ]Mix all ingredients in a cup, then stir and enjoy! Oh and remember to use a straw![/lt_recipe]

Contents

  • 1-2 tbsp ACV
  • 1tsp ginger
  • 1tsp turmeric
  • Few drops of lemon juice (real lemon, not out the bottle)
  • 6oz warm water
  • Straw
  • Mix and enjoy!

*Bonus-This recipe can also be used to aid in losing belly fat!

2. Regulates Blood Sugar

ACV can work wonders at controlling blood sugar. It will be very beneficial for people who have type 2 diabetes.

Various studies show ACV can improve insulin function and will improve the response of insulin when you eat a high carb meal.

As I mentioned above, making an ACV tonic and drinking two tablespoons a day will have your blood sugar levels under control.

As always consult a physician before starting any ACV regimen, especially if you’re taking medications.

3. Weight loss

There was a study conducted where two groups lowered their food intake by 200 calories. One group also had two tablespoons of ACV, and the other group did not. The group that consumed the ACV lost 3.5 pounds more than the group that did not drink the ACV.

Clinical trials have shown that ACV may have a modest effect on your weight loss efforts.

Apple Cider Vinegar helps you feel full, and therefore you will eat fewer calories. It can also boost your metabolism and assist you in burning more fat.

ACV has been all over the blogs, articles, and YouTube for its benefit of helping anyone with their weight loss efforts. Belly fat, in particular, people have seen visible results.

4. Hair

As you may now have seen, ACV has hit the seen in the hair care community. Currently advertised in certain shampoos, you can rid an itchy scalp and balance the ph levels in your scalp.

I do an ACV scalp rinse when I feel my scalp is a bit more itchy than usual.

Because Apple Cider Vinegar is a natural disinfectant, bacteria or fungi buildup in your scalp may likely reduce if you suffer from these types of issues. Bacteria reduction will result in fewer irritations and infections.

By doing an ACV hair/scalp rinse, you can reap all the benefits. You may experience hair growth and less dandruff. Also if you have dull or frizzy hair, it will come back to life with just one hair/scalp rinse per week.

I can vouch for this because my hair is kinky/curly and my curls are much more defined when I rinse. If you do decide to try it, don’t worry that ACV scent will not stay in your hair.

5. Skin

Research has shown that ACV can help with getting rid of acne and balance the PH of your skin. You can use it as a toner or a face mask.

Certain facial cleansers throw the PH of your skin off balance.

Apple Cider Vinegar will work for all skin types. From dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin and for acne prone skin. I have oily and acne prone skin.

Breakouts usually happen around my cheeks, primarily the t-zone area. I can say that by dabbing ACV lightly on my bumps has reduced their size. I do also dilute my ACV with water when I put it on my face because it is quite potent.

Using ACV as a mask can deep clean your pores. It has vitamins A and B, as well as enzymes and amino acids.

You can make your own ACV face mask or buy one that has ACV already in it.

Making your own ACV face masks 1-2x per week may make a difference with the appearance of your skin. Here is my mixture

Contents

  • 3 Tbs ACV
  • 1 Tbs Aztec Indian Bentonite Healing Clay (with this clay do not mix in a metal bowl or with a metal spoon because it will draw out the negative Charges)
  • Mix!

So that’s it. You can use your hand or a makeup brush to put on your face. Leave on for 15-20 minutes then wash off with lukewarm water.

6. Probiotic

Because Apple Cider Vinegar is fermented, you can use it as a natural probiotic. ACV is great if you have a hard time taking the probiotic capsules.

The ACV to be used to reap the probiotic benefits is by consuming the one that contains the “Mother.” The “Mother” is what has the bacteria that keeps your digestive system working correctly.

Remember to purchase the Apple Cider Vinegar raw or unpasteurized because those are the ones that contain the bacteria. Now you also have the option to make your own by using apples, vinegar, and bacterial culture. I purchased mines from a local chain store.

ACV Benefits Recap

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar range from helping people reduce acid reflux, regulate blood sugar, weight-loss, hair, skin and used as a probiotic.

Incorporating ACV into your diet routinely can lead to significant health benefits. Not only can it heal you on the inside, but it can also be an excellent natural beauty regimen for your outside.

Either way, you use ACV it can benefit your overall well-being.
