Perk up, feel pretty, and have yourself a DIY spa day at home. If you’re stuck in the house like everyone during this social-distancing time, you are ready to pull your hair out.
I hope you and your families are staying safe and well during this difficult time. COVID19 is something everyone will remember for years to come.
A lot of people have been leaving the house and going to work still. And there is also a lot of people that have been mandated to stay home from work.
Even though I can leave the house and go to work, I found the first couple of weeks of my city’s lock-down, I stayed on the couch wayyyy more often than usual. I also found myself eating abundantly more than I usually do. And not well-balanced meals. I’m talking about eating mostly snacks like chips, ice cream, pie, cookies, and candy. I know I was doing it out of comfort.
The gym has been closed, and I have yet to take the plunge to do at home workout videos until I realized I was looking a little more puffy than usual.
During this quarantine, if you’re feeling a little out of whack and not yourself, this post should perk you up a bit.
These DIY spa day at home hacks will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to take on whatever the world has to offer. Let’s go!
1.Environment (Set The Tone)- Make sure the place you like to lounge is clutter-free and organized. Also, add some decor. Placing pictures of people you care about around the room, makes you feel calmer and at ease.
You should also have some plants around. Plants are known to decrease stress and increase positive feelings. It is also known for lowering blood pressure.
2. Indian Bentonite Clay Face Mask-This clay is useful in detoxing the skin, treating acne, preventing future breakouts, and reduces the risk of skin infections. Your pores will be smaller, and you will gain a clearer complexion.
3. Face Sheet Mask– Face sheet masks are so versatile. They have moisture ones for people with dry skin and oil-absorbing mask for people with oily skin. They also have a 24KT gold mask, which can treat wrinkles and fine lines and also help with sun damages skin.
4. Hair Treatment– How are those roots looking? Itching for trying a new color? Or maybe your hair is just dry and needs a little TLC. Either way, either one of these things can be accomplished at home. Good deep conditioning can give your hair back its life.
To give your hair back some rejuvenation, you need to start on a clean canvas. First, shampoo your hair after cleansing adds conditioner to your hair. Then you can use a plastic cap or even even a plastic bag to cover all your hair and sit for about 20-30 minutes. After that, just rinse your all done.
Also, since your having a beautiful spa day at home, try an ACV (apple cider vinegar) hair rinse. You probably already have it in your kitchen. Just make sure it has the mother in it. ACV hair rinses are all-natural and full of vitamins. It will prevent product buildup and extend the time between washes. It will also balance the PH of your scalp.
5. Light a Candle– The right ambiance can change your entire mood. Light a candle and sit back and relax. Read a book, write in your journal, or just meditate and take in the beautiful scent.
6. Feet Rejuvenation– During this Quarantine, all the nail shops are closed, and for a good reason. Germs spread quickly, and who knows if they were ever cleaning their nail tools even or adequately wiping down the chairs we sit to relax in. Either way, you can take care of your feet at home.
If you have rough feet, you can try a foot peel. This is the perfect time to do since you won’t be going out much. A foot peel can have your feet peeling for at most a week. But it will all be worth it in the end. You will have soft feet, no dead skin, and calluses will be softened. Make sure to moisturize your feet once peeling has stopped.
After the foot peel, push your cuticles back then clip and polish your toenails. And since you’re going all out on this one, why not try adding some decorative stickers to make em fun.
7. Body Massage– Now they are many great at-home body massagers on the market—no need to visit a professional parlor, especially if you’re on a budget. I have listed one above that have good ratings and wallet-friendly.
8. Calming Music– Music is therapy. It can relieve stress, lighten your mood, and decrease anxiety. Whenever you’re feeling down, play your favorite song. You can also download many different apps that play the sounds of a waterfall, rain, the forest, or even the sound of trains. They are so many options from which you can choose. I like the “Calm” app. Give it a try.
9. Do your nails (Mani)– You focused on your toes already, now let’s focus on your fingers. I have a few different nail kits that can be used on hands or feet. Give yourself a full mani. Soak your hands in warm to quite hot water, depending on your preference (therapy in itself).
Push your cuticles back (you do not have to cut them), then clip and buffer the nail. Now polish time! I have so many random polishes I found on clearance racks. If you feel like getting fancy, you could order a no-chip or even a nail dip powder kit offline, totally up to you.
10. Luscious lips– I exfoliate my lips every couple of days. Here is a simple lip exfoliant recipe I use at home.
Lip scrub
- brown sugar (can sub white sugar)
- olive oil (can sub honey, coconut oil, or almond oil)
- Simply mix and put in a small container with a lid.
11. Under-Eye Refresh– This is a biggie, especially if you’ve been feeling restless. Puffy under-eyes, dark circles, sunken under-eyes, or bags can make you look even more tired than you are. A few simple at-home remedies include:
- cold compress-chilled spoons or sliced cucumbers
- astringent- green tea bag compress or rub some egg white underneath
- antihistamine- If you have allergies that can play a significant roll in under-eye puffiness. Take an allergy pill.
- Vitamin E oil- helps fight free radicals.
- Turmeric- Anti-inflammatory and skin brightener. Perfect combo! You can simply make a paste by adding a little bentonite clay and water with the turmeric.
- Eye massage- Promotes blood flow.
12. Take a bath- Last but not least. To have the perfect DIY spa day at home, you need to take a long hot bath. Throw in some Epsom salt for a nice detox and to relax your muscles. Baths are naturally soothing and can improve your mood and sleep. If you do decide to use the Epsom salt, remember to soak for at least 20 minutes to reap all the benefits.
Conclusion
This Corona Virus has everyone feeling a bit down, anxious, and stressed. I hope this DIY spa day at home will give your mind something else to focus on, which is yourself!
